Jeddah, a bustling port city on the Red Sea, serves as both a modern commercial hub and a vital gateway for pilgrims travelling to the Islamic holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
Mecca, the birthplace of Prophet Muhammad, is where his religious teachings began, while Medina is the second most important city in Islam.
In this intersection of trade and faith, We reimagined Jeddah Airport’s Duty Free —a place where every design element tells a story of both worldly passage and sacred pilgrimage.

Stepping into the DUTY-FREE as a progression through corridors with rising sand dunes and desert rose motifs, culminating in a central OASIS, creates a captivating and memorable shopping experience.
This concept immerses customers in a journey that reflects the DESERT LANDSCAPE, making the shopping environment not only attractive but also evocative and unique.

Using desert sand as the main material in the palette not only adds warmth but also complements the
displayed products.
The choice of material helps celebrate the brand's concept of effortless luxury, creating a cohesive and inviting shopping environment.

A flexible and adaptable design that incorporates various display options, well-planned circulation, and interactive zones significantly enhance the opportunities on the sales floor.
This versatility allows for creative product arrangements, smoother customer flow and engaging experiences that lead to increased sales and customer satisfaction.

This area is designed to cater toys and confectionery products while creating welcoming and adventurous activities in a creative approach.

The design approach maintains a cohesive theme while allowing each area to showcase its individuality, engaging customers with variety and enhancing their overall journey through the store.
Fashion Pie
The inclusion of a virtual trial room enables buyers to visualize how products would look on them,
fostering an immediate and personal connection with the brand.
Allowing shoppers to visually explore and become comfortable with products without the need for physical trials can lead to significant time and resource savings. This approach streamlines the decision-making process and
enhances the overall shopping experience by offering a more efficient way to evaluate products.
Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages Pie
The fusion of old and new Jeddah in this space offers a multifaceted experience where people can shop, interact, and engage fostering a strong sense of ownership within a creative environment.
Tobacco Pie
Incorporating artistic design elements and dedicated zones like a shisha lounge, tobacco studio and cigar humidor adds excitement and depth to the display area for tobacco products.
Display Unit
Display unit designed are flexible, versatile, modular and configurable thus increasing the utility of the displays while ensuring the best possible return on investment.
The flexibility in display and signage, opens up more opportunity on the sales floor.
Modular design, the best way to meet the spatial inequities of different retail environments while also addressing different product mixes and seasonal or promotional opportunities. It’s also easier to replace parts or components in modular displays, rather than replacing complete fixtures in the event of damage.

EXPERIENCE
THE MOON
Entering from the corridors and walking under a magnificent mirror ceiling with a central moon surrounded by a galaxy of stars creates an enchanting and immersive experience. This design element adds a touch of wonder and celestial beauty, setting the tone for the journey within the space and enhancing the overall ambiance.
The element of a mirror ceiling in the center that reflects the curve forms and rising desert rose installations, combined with color-changing lights, creates a captivating visual experience that represents the cultural journey of Jeddah from sand dunes to oasis. The inclusion of a 360-degree spherical screen projecting simulated MOON PHASES and a STARRY SKY above adds an immersive and celestial touch to the design, enhancing the overall ambiance and transporting visitors to a mesmerizing cosmic setting.

Inspired by the Kingdom's transformation, the use of desert sand in the design palette adds warmth and beautifully complements the showcased products.

Ready to take flight
Cultivating Culture and Creativity
The airport’s unique design elements, including sand glass boxes, mechanical horses, and flowing forms
inspired by prayer, created an engaging and memorable experience for passengers. This thoughtful approach transformed static corridors into dynamic, visually captivating spaces, enhancing transit enjoyment and showcasing a commitment to cultural detail.
Incorporating desert roses and symbols of heritage and prayer highlighted local culture to international travellers, educating them about the region’s history and traditions while reinforcing the airport’s role as a cultural ambassador. Artistic installations and a carefully considered design not only boosted the airport’s aesthetic appeal but also positioned it as a modern and innovative hub.
The thematic zones offered distinctive branding opportunities, marketing the airport as a destination that provides both travel convenience and a rich cultural experience.
